About Me
My name is Jewel (Kaawa) Akamine. I graduated from Nanakuli High & Intermediate School in 1987, got married in 1989, graduated from University of Phoenix, Kapolei in 2005 with a BS in e-business, and I have 5 kids (4 girls and 1 boy). I moved to Kapolei in 1990 and watched this community grow and expand. I work in social services helping homeless families transition into full or part time jobs and hopefully into permament housing after becoming financially stable. I LOVE IT!
I am involved with youth sports here in Kapolei. I started out as an assistant coach for my kids baseball team (PONY LEAGUE), took on the head coach position when my daughter started playing and I have been volunteering as an assistant coach for the Kapolei High School (JV) softball team since 2005. I continue to coach with the ASA/OJO association here in Kapolei and will be moving my girls up to the 12U division next Spring. I am also try to be involved with my son's football team (Kapolei Warriors Silver Pee-wee) as much as possible. I LOVE THIS TOO! "Thank you Booboo for instilling this passion for coaching and working to promote positive players and coaches."
