Frequently Asked Questions

You are probably trying to look at someones profile that is set to private. This means that they are only letting people who are in their Ohana List view their profile. If you know this person then request an add to their Ohana List.
Uhhh because you had register more than one time. We do our best to delete duplicate entries but if you see this, please notify us so that we can keep the site clean.
Ohana Lists are the people that a user has designated as their friends or family. Classmates are automatically added to your Ohana list but you can remove them if you would like to. Your Ohana List is a great way to keep track of your friends and family and it also enables a cool feature called 6 degrees of seperation where we are able to show you how you are connect with other members on the site.
Reminders are Calendar items that you want to be reminded about. Create or Edit your Calendar Item and set the reminder interval. We will remind you on whatever date you set in the reminder. The reminder will be sent to the email address you used when you registered.
There's a couple of ways: 1) Click on the "Online Help" button to start chatting with someone instantly. 2) Send us an email, support@homegrownhawaii.com.
Throughout the site you will see an "Online Now" icon near peoples names and pictures. Click on the link to initiate a chat. Make sure that you have disabled pop-up blocking or the window won't be able to open. For a quick way to see who is online, click on the "People Currently Online" link found on the Home page.
A link to the Terms of Service can be found at the bottom of every page.
No, you do not get a HomegrownHawaii.com email. Mail messages are through HomegrownHawaii.com. You need to be signed in to HomegrownHawaii.com to send mail messages and view mail messages.
Groups are a way of gathering people in one place. Some good examples of groups are creating a Ohana Page for all of your family members, or creating a Work page if you work with plenty people from Hawaii. You can use groups for Club Pages like the Hawaiian Club of Southern California etc...
Instant messaging is a way for you to chat 1 on 1 with your friends/family that currently logged in to HomegrownHawaii.com.
Six degrees of seperation is the term used for connecting people who do not directly know one another. For example Kimo is classmates with Makani, Makani's Aunty is Baboos. Which means that Kimo is indirectly connected to Aunty Baboos through Makani. Get it? On users profiles you will see a "6 degrees of Seperation" link. Clicking on this link will show you how you are connect to someone. The way the connections are made is through your Ohana List, so the more people you get in your Ohana List the more people you can be connected to.
Make sure that you are not blocking pop-ups. For more information about allowing pop-ups for HomegrownHawaii.com visit our Messenger Help page under Topics on the Help Center.
