About Me
Howzit everybody! For those that didn't know, I was actually denied a GE to Kaimuki my senior year, due to the fact that 1)I lived in Salt Lake and 2)I think I cut class more often than I went, so I actually attended Moanalua in '85-'86 (though I was a frequent truant there as well). But I still consider myself '86 Kaimuki, because I grew up with practically everyone there.
After high school I moved to Kona for a couple of years and worked in the construction industry, trying to become a carpenter. After that didn't pan out (wasn't in the union), moved back to Honolulu and hooked up with the phone company, GTE. 17 years later I am still there, only now we're called Hawaiian Telcom, and am a special services technician. I install and maintain T1, Fractional T1 and DDS circuits. Met my wife in the phone company and bought a home in Makakilo. Been married 7 years. Have 2 stepkids, 3 dogs, 2 cats and fish. On May 23, 2008 I became a step-grandfather. My step-son and his girlfriend had a baby boy, and have named him Chasen Kekoalii.
I remember lunch times on the side of the auditorium, hanging out with the rocker/surfers, we were one big close group, going to Kapahulu Arcade after school, surfing/bodyboarding on the weekends. I remember Burger King being the first fast food to have you make your own drinks, some of us digging out cups from the trash, rinsing'em out in the bathroom and helping ourselves to soda. Sounds gross now, but back then we had to save our quarters for the arcade.
Yep, them were good times, but at some point we growed up. Enjoyed seeing you guys last year in Vegas and at Dave & Busters for our 20th reunion. Would love to hear from classmates and make new friends from other schools as well.
Aloha,
Dave
